About UNDP Mozambique

UNDP partners with the Government of Mozambique to create opportunities for empowerment, protect the environment, and build resilience against disasters. Following the destruction caused by Cyclones Idai and Kenneth, UNDP has implemented recovery programs supported by international donors, emphasizing resilience, governance, and sustainable development.


Position Details

  • Title: Finance Specialist
  • Location: Beira, Mozambique
  • Contract Type: Volunteer Assignment (via UNV)

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational and Financial Management:

  • Ensure compliance with UNDP financial rules and regulations.
  • Design and implement internal financial processes.
  • Analyze financial reports, identify anomalies, and propose solutions.

2. Project Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Plan, manage, and report financial resources aligned with UNDP standards.
  • Support budget planning and monitoring.
  • Prepare corporate and donor financial reports.

3. Financial Oversight:

  • Manage project finances transparently and efficiently.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial and administrative reports.
  • Oversee costs and budget balances, ensuring alignment with project objectives.

4. Implementation and Coordination:

  • Support project work plan preparation and timely implementation.
  • Coordinate consultations, capacity-building activities, and logistics.
  • Maintain project records, assets, and inventories.

5. Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building:

  • Conduct training for stakeholders on financial management.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices with a focus on EU compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in financial management within international organizations.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Knowledge of UNDP policies and procedures is a plus.
